Sophomores Krog (Central Kitsap) and Jackson (South KItsap) air it out in the javelin

Two sophomores made a huge move in the javelin this past week. Central Kitsap’s Olivia Krog suddenly crossed the 100-foot mark, exploding for a 122 feet, six inch throw that won her the event at the 56th annual Shelton Invitational and pushed her into the lead among the best this year on the Olympic Peninsula.

Not to be outdone, South Kitsap’s Madison Jackson also crossed over the 100-foot barrier by tossing the spear 115 feet, two inches to move into third place (behind Peninsula’s Jolene Kvinsland’s 119-11) on the peninsula.

Jaleel Elmore, senior from CK, continues to lead in three events – 100, 200 and 400. He moved his 400 school record down to 48.79 in a winning effort at the Shelton Invitational. His time is now third best in the state.

Elmore also won the 200 at Shelton with a time of 22.01 and placed second in the 100 with a clocking of 11.15.

Sequim’s Oscar Herrera lowed his 110 hurdles best peninsula time to 14.73 with a winning effort at Shelton. He also leads the peninsula in the 300 hurdles (38.72).

South Kitsap’s Albert MacArthur continues to lead in the long and triple jumps. He moved across the 22-foot barrier with a 22 feet, two and a quarter inch winning jump at Shelton.
