Olympic’s 400 relay quartet of Morgan McCorkle, Stephanie Barr, Kelli Ford and Danielle Rose Monzon established the state’s class 2A best time with a run of 48.63 at the Olympic League All-Division Track and Field Meet Championships. Their time is the second best in the state, behind a class 4A time set by Tahoma of 47.3 at the Pasco Invitational last month.
At the same Olympic League meet, Olympic’s Jaleel Elmore established the best time in class 2A in the 200, clocking 21.95. Elmore, a senior, holds the Olympic Peninsula lead in three events – 100 (11.oo0, 200 and 400 (48.79). He also runs a leg of the school’s 400 relay team that leads the Olympic Peninsula with a time of 43.32, which is the third best 2A time in the state behind West Valley of Spokane’s state-leading time of 42.40 and Lynden’s 43.04.
South Kitsap’s Albert MacArthur continues to push the boundaries in the long jump. On Saturday in a meet against Central Kitsap, the senior set a school record with a leap of 22 feet and nine inches. The previous record was held by Nick Anderson’s 22-07.5 he set in 2003.
MacArthur’s jump is the second best in 4A state behind Federal Way’s Mason Sallee’s 23-00.5 and the fourth best overall behind state leader Kedrick Johnson of Hockinson, who has gone 23-03. Hockinson is a 2A school.
MacArthur also leads the peninsula in the triple jump at 46-02, which is fifth in the state and second in 4A behind Sallee’s 47-11.75.
Central Kitsap senior Cameron Carroll, who leads the peninsula in the 800 (1:54.00) and the 1600 (4:13.59) delved into the 400 Saturday and crossed under the 50-second mark with a time of 49.74, which is second on the peninsula to Elmore’s time.
