EASY ED PERDUE WITH HIS EVER-PRESENT PIPE

How could I forget “Easy” Ed Perdue?
But I did.
When I mentioned in a recent column on the Carlson family for the Kitsap Sun that the Bremerton Athletic Roundtable (now Kitsap Athletic Roundtable) was founded in the early 1960s by these men – Linc Perry, Don Lay Sr., Jim Carlson, Bernie Burke, Dick Bearbower and Ray Hall – I left out Easy Ed. He also was one of the founders.
Ed Perdue was a sportswriter for the old Bremerton Sun at the time and was a familiar man around town who coached youth teams and was an avid golfer who loved to smoke a pipe.
A Washington State graduate, Perdue also was one of the founders of the Bremerton Babe Ruth program. One of his two sons, Joe Perdue, is a PGA professional and owner of the Hidden Meadows Golf Course in Old Town, Maine.
Ed Perdue died July 1, 2007. He was 74.
