ELTON GOODWIN
The third annual EG29 Foundation fall dinner and silent auction will be held this year at McCormick Woods in Port Orchard on November 4 from 7-11 p.m. It is being held in the honor and memory of Elton Goodwin who won three state baseball titles as the longtime coach of South Kitsap.
Goodwin was 63 when he died Nov. 7, 2013 from complications of hip surgery.
Sharon Goodwin, wife of Arlond Goodwin, the oldest of four Goodwins (Billy and Aaron also survive Elton), is the chairman of the foundation and she released a press release announcing this year’s affair.
“Please consider joining us to once again remember/celebrate Elton’s lifetime achievements and further the goals of the EG29 Foundation by providing scholarships, low income grants and facilities improvements for the children of South Kitsap,” Sharon Goodwin said.
This year’s event will begin with no-host cocktails social on the patio at McCormick Woods as guests review silent auction items to bid on. A baron of beef and king salmon dinner with all the accompaniments will follow.
Sponsors this year are Columbia Hospitality/McCormick Woods and Minder Meats. Tickets are $50 a person if purchased prior to Oct. 21 by calling Sharon Goodwin at (360) 874-2929. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door but will cost $60. All the proceeds from this non-profit event go towards creating scholastic and athletic opportunities for the children of the South Kitsap community.
