DAVE RYLES, LES EATHORNE, BEN MACHION
By Patti Ryles
I’m sorry I haven’t updated for a while but there really hadn’t been any changes until the last 3 or 4 days. I’m not sure what it is but Dave seems stronger. He’s not falling asleep when you’re talking to him; in fact, I haven’t seen him sleep all week. Also his voice is much stronger and you can understand everything he says. It’s almost like his old voice.
I know they’ve changed some of his medications and that could be responsible for some of the change but it’s really quite a big difference. He is still unable to walk so he’s in the wheelchair a lot but he’s participating in some of the activities life watching movies and sitting out by the nurse’s station so that he’s not always by himself in his room.
I didn’t see any of the therapists yesterday or today so I’m going to call tomorrow to find out what progress he has made in the last 2 weeks other than what I can detect. Dave says he’s walking up and down the aisles but I don’t think so. The nurse I spoke with today said she hadn’t seen Dave walking.
He will be in Issaquah through the holidays unless by some miracle he’s able to come home. If he hasn’t recovered enough to come home by the first of January, we will have to move him. Medicare will cover about 80% of the charges until January and then if he can’t come home we will have to move him to a private adult home due to costs. If anyone is aware of a good adult care home, please contact me at 206-953-2376. Please continue to keep Dave in your thoughts and prayers and if you can find the time, go visit him. Thank you so much for caring, Patti
