Bumming around town with Bill Bumerton
Bumerton is a retired Navy fighter pilot who had been missing in action for several years while he traversed the globe looking for greener grass. He discovered the grass is only greener here (it’s blue in Kentucky), so he returned to again take charge of his 1954 green Hudson Hornet that has been in storage, refilled his pipe, and is ready to continue his smokin’ ways. Here is what he recently told us at the Sports Paper.
The A-Rod saga sure is getting interesting and, frankly, I don’t know what to believe, Big Dawg. There was a story out of Daily News in New York written by Bill Madden and Terri Thompson that A-Rod is thinking MLB may suspend him in the Biogenesis affair and if that happens he would be out a ton of money. So to avoid that, the thinking is A-Rod would want to rush back from his latest injury and get back on the active roster before that happens. Then he could retire on a medical hardship and be able to receive much, if not all, of the $114 million remaining on his contact. Granted, this is just a rumor, but it sure sounds like the A-Rod you have described to me, Big Dawg. The guy is all about money. And who isn’t? I’m not sure if I’m in his shoes I wouldn’t do that. So we’ll see how it all plays out as the carnival that is A-Rod continues under the Big Top of the Big Apple.
