Why can’t we all get along and why is Wilson having trouble in Denver?

TOP OF THETOWN ‑ Why can’t we all get along? I have lived long enough to know when we disagreed on policy but got along as friends. Now we have 45, a “divider”, out on the streets pushing weird conspiracies including the 2020 election was stolen from him, and expressing his opponents should be rounded up and executed. The good thing is 45’s poll numbers have dropped dramatically as regular folk have begun to wake up to what he really represents. I’m still worried, tough, election deniers are running for election all over the country and the Republican-led red states have passed bills that in some cases allow elections to be overthrown if results are not to their liking. In other words, elections are secure in that state only if they win. If they lose, they win. Which means, voters won’t have the final say in who wins. It’s all too much for me. I guess I have been here too long. It might be time for me to depart. … Speaking of departing, it appears the forced departure of Russell Wilson might be a good one for the Seahawks. Wilson is having a difficult time finding his footing in Denver. I see flashes of his brilliance, but most of the time he struggles to get the Broncos’ offense going. He has found his DK Metcalf in Courtland Sutton, a 6-foot-4 receiver out of SMU, but he needs one more to be truly effective. And the Bronco offensive line resembles some of the lines he had with the Seahawks. A suggestion: Wilson might stay away from doing a “Dangerwich” commercial for Subway. It’s a terrible ad and Wilson is being mocked for it. If the commercial is a first and goal on the one-yard line with a Super Bowl championship on the line, it’s another interception. … Well, we found out the Washington Huskies are human. For a brief time it looked like the Huskies might be replaying the glory years of Don James. But, no, UCLA blew that up big time by running all over the Husky defense in a 40-32 victory that gave the Huskies their first defeat in five games. Now the Huskies have to proved the UCLA loss was just a blip by defeating messed-up Arizona State Saturday (Oct.8) at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils are playing with an interim coach since firing Herm Edwards. The NCAA is investigating the Sun Devils for improperly hosting recruits during a COVID-19 dead period. It has caused the firing of two coaches, resignation of two others, and now Edwards is gone.  I figure the Huskies will have trouble defeating the Sun Devils despite all the troubles ASU is going through. The Husky pass defense is not just suspect. It is horrible. One of my many nieces is an over-the-top Buffalo Bills supporter and it’s my hope they provide her with a Super Bowl championship. I think the Bills might do it. It’s too early, though, to proclaim them champs. Kansas City, the Rams, Ravens, maybe even the 49ers, Eagles and Cowboys all look good. The Seahawks? Maybe in a few years. I think it’s likely Pete Carroll will not last too much longer and then the restructuring of the team will begin. Maybe even a new owner. So don’t hold your breath. That’s it for today. Stay safe.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are loved.
